Betterflag vs Statsig
Flags-first. Independent. One meter.
Statsig is an experimentation platform where flags ride along and the real meter is analytics events. Betterflag is the opposite: flags are the whole product, the meter is evaluations, and the roadmap belongs to no one but its users.

Why teams switch
The meter matches the product
With Betterflag you pay for what flags do: evaluations. Not for the analytics exhaust around them. If you only need flags, you should not be budgeting for an events pipeline.
No acquisition roulette
Statsig was acquired by OpenAI in 2025, then its brand and customers moved to Amplitude in 2026 while the founding team stayed at OpenAI. Betterflag is independent and flags are its only business.
Agent-first from day one
Your coding agent can create a flag, stage a 10% rollout, and kill a broken feature through MCP, with approval guardrails on production. The dashboard is the observation layer.
The math, side by side
A team that wants flags only: targeting, rollouts, kill switches. No experimentation program.
Statsig Pro
- Flag checks: free
- Pro tier for team features: $150/mo
- Includes 5M metered events you may not need
$150/mo
Betterflag Launch
- 5M evaluations, unlimited seats and environments
$24.99/mo
Statsig list prices as of July 2026. If you run real experiments, Statsig's event pricing is competitive; this example is for flags-only usage.
The honest take
When Statsig is the better pick
If you run a serious experimentation program, Statsig's stats engine (sequential testing, CUPED, holdouts) is excellent and its free tier is generous. For experimentation, it is one of the best tools on the market.
When Betterflag is the better pick
If you adopted Statsig for flags and never touched the experimentation side, you are carrying a platform sized for a different job, with a roadmap that now runs through Amplitude. Betterflag does flags with one meter and an MCP your agents can drive.
Common questions
Is Betterflag trying to be an experimentation platform?
No. Flags-only is the deliberate scope: targeting, percentage rollouts, scheduled rollouts, kill switches, audit log. Remote config ships later as a flag type.
What happened to Statsig?
OpenAI acquired Statsig in September 2025. In May 2026, Amplitude took over the Statsig brand, platform, and customers, while the original team remained at OpenAI. The product continues, but its roadmap now runs through Amplitude.
Can agents use Betterflag safely in production?
Yes. Agent keys are scoped, every agent action is attributed in the audit log, and you can require human approval for sensitive operations like production kill switches.
